In 1991 my mother moved to Barbados and bought a property. She spent the next few years renovating it whilst raising my then younger siblings. I spent a couple of years there in my late teens and have been returning regularly ever since. My siblings are now grown and dispersed across the world, but we still have our family home. Nestled away in two and a half acres of nature, in a quiet spot 10 mins drive to the beach, It's location is perfect for travelling around and experiencing the whole island from the dramatic East Coast, the vibrant South Coast and the luxury of the quiet hidden beaches of the West Coast. For two months I will be opening up our family home to small groups to practice yoga and enjoy Barbados.
What a day will look like.
When you wake you'll be able to go out onto the front gallery to grab hot and cold drinks, coffee, teas, ginger and lemon water to ready yourself for practise at 0800. We will gather on the back gallery which is a large covered open space overlooking the organic tropical gardens. We will practise Mysore to the sounds of birds, the occasional monkeys and chimes. After practise we will enjoy a hearty breakfast of local produce, outdoors on the front gallery, planning which beaches to discover, there are so many! Those who have chosen to have surf lessons or who have rented boards will be picked up after breakfast to go off to the South Coast. We have a 7 seater car and will take off after breakfast for a traditional swim, the breadth of Carlisle Bay (6 mins away) and all who wish to join us will be welcome. On our day off, for those who wish to participate we will have a private Catamaran take us to swim with the turtles, snorkle around the ship wrecks then take off for the morning to discover the quiet bays of the West Coast, this is a magical experience! This is a Yoga Holiday as much as a retreat, for those wanting peace and quiet the property will give you just that, for those wishing for a holiday with morning Mysore then .
