In 1991 my family moved to Barbados and I have been returning there ever since. My home away from home is nestled in two and a half acres of nature, in a quiet spot 10 mins drive to the beach. It's the perfect location for experiencing the whole island; the drama that is the East Coast, the homely welcoming vibes of the South, and the luxurious tranquility of the West.... I have long wanted to share the joy of being on this island alongside my joy of teaching yoga - I'd love for you to join me in both!
What a day will look like.
The properties communal spaces are airy and open perfect for gathering together or chilling in a hammock. Hot and cold drinks, coffee, teas, ginger and lemon water, will be available first thing in the morning, so you can sip your favourite morning drink whilst you listen to the birds calling. At 0800 We will gather on the back gallery for practice. This is a large, covered, open space overlooking the luscious organic tropical gardens. We will practice Mysore to the sounds of nature, and chimes and if we are lucky we might catch a glimpse of the garden monkeys thieving the mangoes! We will have 6 practice days beginning the day after arrival and culminating in a yoga conference on the final day. After practice we will convene on the front gallery to enjoy a hearty breakfast of local produce and you can plan which beaches you wish to discover - there are so many! Those who have chosen to have surf lessons or who have rented boards will journey off to the South Coast to our favourite surf spot with our favourite surf instructors. It is the hosts tradition to have a pre or post breakfast daily swim, we have a 7 seater car and will take off each morning to swim the breadth of Carlisle Bay (6 mins away) and all who wish to join us will be welcome. On our day off, for those who wish to participate we will have a private Catamaran take us to swim with the turtles, snorkle around the ship wrecks then take off for the morning to discover the quiet bays of the West Coast, this is a magical experience! As well as breakfast, we will provide a home cooked plant based evening meal, during the day we will point you towards some good local food spots where you can grab a bite to eat. This is a Yoga Holiday as much as a retreat. For those wanting peace and quiet the property will give you just that, for those wishing for a holiday with morning Mysore, 'R&R' and lots of fun (!) this is the perfect place for you. If you wish to go out on an evening you may (providing you're on your mat bright and early the next morning!), at home, there's dominoes, giant jenga, cards and plenty of comfy spots to curl up with a good book. Oh.....and star gazing in the garden is magnificent!
