Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic form. A set sequence. Movement is synchronised to breath.
Poses flow from one to the next, generating a detoxifying heat in the body.
Cleansing the nervous system, removing toxins keeping the mind calm and focused, the body supple, strong, light and free
Ashtanga yoga is best learnt in either a Mysore class or a beginners workshop. It is a misconception that beginners must learn the Ashtanga practise in a led class before attending a Mysore class. On the contrary, the authentic method of teaching is to learn the asanas in the Mysore class before attending the sanskrit counted class where there is little instruction. In the West today, there are many led classes (with instructions) that can serve as a taster to the Ashtanga yoga practice. However if you think Ashtanga yoga is of you it is recommended to go to the Mysore class as soon as you can.
